Caulking the log cabins
Calvary Adult Mission
"There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work." 1 Corinthians 12:5-6
Yearly, a group of dedicated volunteers join together to serve a need in our Diocese or beyond. In June 2016, we refurbished housing in San Marcos damaged by flood waters. In August 2017, we traveled to Vinton, LA., just over the border from Orange, TX. For five days, we worked at a Veterans' Shelter, chinking (like caulking) several log cabins.
“God's Work: Our Hands” is our mantra. We are on the lookout for projects that give us the opportunity to roll up our sleeves with light carpentry/painting work, to make a home safe and attractive for living again. We are not skilled construction workers, but rather eager workers willing to learn. We also look for opportunities that award us a chance to meet those we are helping. There is time for worship, exploring, fun, and games. We have been fortunate to secure affordable accommodations and blessed with delicious meals. We receive so much more than we give.
